Phyllis Johnston, USA Team Leader  If I can do this business anyone can!!! Yes, this business is so simple anyone can have success if they want it and are willing to work for it as hard as you would work for someone else.
I come from a small farm community in North Carolina. We learned to work hard at a very early age. We worked from sun up to sun down about six months out of the year. The rest of the year we were tending the animals taking care of our food supply. We sold produce on the weekend to get extra money, everything from milk, butter, eggs, greens, sweet potatoes all the way to picking up pine cones and selling them.
When I married right out of business school I was so excited about the future. My husband was in the military, I was working as Deputy Clerk of Court and to try to get by we started raising baby chickens, 33,000 at a time. Now we had 3 incomes but guess what we were just getting by. There was never anything left over at the end of the month. We were in the rut that life often puts us in without an opportunity. THEN a day that would change our lives. We were invited to a meeting where you could learn how to earn $200,000.00 right from your home. Well, I can tell you I thought they were crazy because there was no way anyone could work that hard. I wanted to leave before the police came. My husband, being much more optimistic than I, encouraged me to stay and hear them out. Finally he agreed they were kinda crazy, but what if we did 10% of that $200,000.00 we would be able to do some of the things we dreamed of but saw no way of ever accomplishing. Our combined income that year had been $6,500.00.
Friends that was in 1968 and I have been in this industry ever since. Yes, I was very scared in the beginning, this was a different life than we had experienced on the farm. But it was fun and the opportunity to help our friends and family to have a better life made it even more exciting. We realized right from the beginning you can not build success alone you must reach out and help others. We soon learned that network marketing/direct sales would work and it has been my livelihood since 1968.
During all of these years, I have had the opportunity to work in the corporate structure and I have been privileged to build an organization. As a distributor, I have shared my opportunity and products with thousands of people through the past years. I have created a business that produced over 2.5 million dollars a year. Year after year I have been able to enjoy a 6 figure income earning well over a million dollars with Mr. Pete Monroe and his management team. This has given me an opportunity to reach out and help others, to do for my family and take them on vacations, travel around the world and enjoy the good life. I have been able to give more to Christian ministry and to help spread the love of my Lord to others.
Everything has not always gone as planned (just like any profession or place of business), but when disappointments come and they will, you pick yourself up and keep going. There was a time many years ago when our car was repossessed and I was out selling product to anyone I could find to buy milk for our kids, but I could still see the future. Regardless of the struggles I knew I was much better than where I had been and I didn't want to go back.
I guess my greatest obstacle to overcome was to realize that I and anyone else who really wants it could have the success most people only dream about. You do not have to have any special degree, certain age group, race, background or religious group to be successful and earn large sums of money. I had to realize you don't have to work harder, you learn to work smarter. I believe your greatest requirement to have success in network marketing/direct sales is simple ... a love for people and a love to help others achieve. Patience and persistence are so important. Stay focused on what you want for yourself and your family. Don't ever, ever quit!
We do have the opportunity to change our world and in turn help change someone else as we go. One at a time, we will make a difference and leave a better world for our children and grandchildren one day.
When the Monroes gave me the opportunity to help build Peoplesway, I was very excited to be at the beginning. To be with a company that I know puts the interest of the Distributors first, always striving to give us the best products, the best opportunity and the best management. The opportunity to build a business that pays residual on everything happening in our organization through infinity. A plan that pays me on everything that happens in my group whether I have 1 person active or 100,000 I earn on all.
Recognition is important to everyone and the company knows how to appreciate your efforts. They have given me a lot of decisions to make, like who gets my 3 mink coats I have earned, or who do I leave the diamonds, I earned, to. The beautiful pieces of crystal and sterling silver serving set. It is also good to be apart of a company that is a publicly traded company and to have several thousand shares that I have been awarded and have been able to purchase shares of the company, so that I can truly feel it is my company.
The past 36 years have been an exciting journey I would take nothing for the experiences I have enjoyed and the people I have met. The future looks bright. Decide what you want. Set your goal. Tell someone about it and don't let anything turn you around... remember if this little farm girl can make it in the business so can you. It takes nothing special but a desire to reach out to others, with God's help just like me you can make it. You too can become a million dollar earner. I will see you at the TOP! |
